What does Artificial Intelligence do to prevent making mistakes?

Artificial Intelligence - hmm, hmm, hmm. It dosn't just make the right choice like that. What does it do to prevent the wrong decisions.

1. If it exists, and depending on your definition, it does what anyone does - tries their best to understand the issues before making any conclusions, checks the facts, weighs how likely they are, and so on, but is open to the idea that their wrong, and changes their view when new data definitively contradicts them. I'm not aware of any AI that is this bright however. But perhaps it doesn't need to be. I'm not aware of too many people who are this bright.
