Artificial intelligence?

What careers can you have in the field of artificial intelligence? Would it be teaching and research or in a company? How much would it pay? What sort of degree would you need?

1. A degree in robotic engineering probably covers it. This is a big idea especially with Japenese companies and it is mostly R&D. Presumably, you'd want to be handy in electronical enginnering as well.
2. Depending on your area of expertise, you could go into just about any field, and work with AI. Architects, for example are designing homes and offices which will learn and anticipate the needs of their users. Engineers are needed, especially in the area of robotics. There are already cars that can drive themselves, and the armed forces are using planes without humans in them. Obviously, someone has to teach all this stuff. If you get a masters degree in a field which applies to this, you can expect to start at US$50-100,000/year.
